Lango is growing! We are seeking skilled Staff Interpreters to join our team in the Dallas Fort Worth and Denton areas .
This role provides sign language interpreting services to the Deaf Community in a variety of settings.
This is an in-person position with expected travel throughout the DFW and Denton areas. Hours may vary. Standard work hours are 8:00-5:00 Central Time, though work hours may vary periodically based on the needs of the community.
Job responsibilities and expectations include:
- Interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
- Interpret for a variety of assignments (may include education K-12, medical, business, post-secondary, mental health, and other fields).
- Willing to travel within assigned area.
- Represent the agency in a professional manner.
- Adhere to agency policies and procedures, as well as department requirements.
- Attend (Region and Company) staff meetings and staff development activities, as required.
- Complete required paperwork in a timely manner and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate and communicate with ASL team regarding scheduling, absences/dismissals, reassignment, substitute requests for scheduled/unscheduled leave.
- May be required to provide Video Remote Interpreting in addition to In-Person interpreting as determined by business need.
Required skills and certifications:
- College degree preferred, high school graduate or the equivalent.
- Completion of interpreter training program or acceptable equivalent.
- Sufficient continuing education to maintain professional growth and certification.
- BEI or RID Certification
- Valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and private transportation.
- Reliable transportation required.
- Excellent ASL skills
- Flexible and willing to accommodate last-minute schedule changes.
- An understanding of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Deaf Blind and late-deafened individuals, and Deaf Culture.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented and diverse environment required.
- Strong organizational skills.
